Fourth Renewa biomass boiler to Pudasjärvi

Pudasjärvi orders already its fourth Renewa biomass boiler

The town of Pudasjärvi and Renewa have entered into an agreement for the delivery of a biomass boiler to be used in the expansion of one of the town’s district heating plants. Renewa will supply the boiler as a turn-key delivery that will include 4 MW grate boiler, a fuel supply and conveyor system and pipework, as well as construction and electrification and control systems. The new boiler plant uses biofuel supplied by local log-house constructor Kontiotuote. The company is also the largest consumer of heat energy generated by the plant. The new plant will be brought into operation at the end of February 2010.

According to Pudasjärvi’s Energy Engineer, Pentti Partanen, the town’s decision to use Renewa as their boiler supplier was based on operational and financial criteria. “Operational reliability and the overall cost-effectiveness of the plant were the main factors affecting our decision. In addition, the confidence built up by the long-term collaboration and Renewa's flexibility to implement customer-specific changes also carried weight in the tendering process”, Partanen explains.

Pudasjärvi, a town at the gates of  Lapland with long annual heating season, has been collaborating with Renewa and its predecessors for 20 years. The town uses three solid-fuel plants that were supplied by Renewa/Termopoint and Renewa/Putkimaa.

The town's annual heat energy sales are currently 47 GWh. Production capacity will increase in the Törrönkangas area, where the old heating boiler will remain as a peak-time and reserve boiler.
